Cuyahoga Heights Schools has once again earned the highest possible overall rating on the Ohio School Report Card, receiving 5 stars for the 2025-26 school year.
The district is tied for 26th out of 607 Ohio school districts, placing the district in the top 4% statewide. Only 61 districts in Ohio earned an overall 5-star rating. The district ranked 7th out of 31 districts in Cuyahoga County based on overall rating points.
The district’s three schools also earned strong overall ratings:
Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School: 5 Stars
Cuyahoga Heights Middle School: 4 Stars
Cuyahoga Heights High School: 5 Stars
Strong Performance Across Report Card Measures
The Ohio School Report Card provides families and communities with a comprehensive look at how schools and districts are performing. Cuyahoga Heights earned 5 stars in four of the six individual components and 4 stars in the remaining two:
Achievement: 5 Stars
Significantly exceeds state standards in academic achievement.
Progress: 5 Stars
Significant evidence that the district exceeded student growth expectations by a larger magnitude.
Gap Closing: 5 Stars
Significantly exceeds state standards in closing educational gaps among student groups.
Graduation: 5 Stars
Significantly exceeds state standards in graduation rates.
Early Literacy: 4 Stars
Exceeds state standards in early literacy for students in kindergarten through third grade.
College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness: 4 Stars
Exceeds state standards in preparing students for future opportunities after high school.
Achievement and Growth
The district’s results reflect both strong academic achievement and student growth. The Achievement component measures student performance on Ohio’s State Tests, while Progress measures the academic growth students make based on their previous performance.
Earning 5 stars in both areas demonstrates that Cuyahoga Heights students are achieving at high levels while also making significant academic progress.
The district also earned 5 stars in Gap Closing, which examines performance and improvement among student groups, and Graduation, which measures four- and five-year graduation rates.
“Earning 5 stars is very difficult and should not be taken for granted," said Young. "This is the fifth straight year of being recognized as a 5 star district, and it is because of the commitment and sacrifice our students and staff demonstrate each year. While the report card is an important metric, and we aspire to perform well each year, it is only one of many ways our district works to reach new heights for our students and community.”
The latest results continue a strong record of academic performance for Cuyahoga Heights Schools. Beyond the state report card, the district's students and staff have received recognition for academic achievement, literacy, Advanced Placement opportunities, positive school culture and other programs that contribute to a well-rounded educational experience.
While the report card provides an important measure of district performance, Cuyahoga Heights Schools remains focused on the broader goal of preparing students for success in school and beyond.
A Tradition of Excellence
The 2025-26 report card results add to a growing list of accomplishments across Cuyahoga Heights Schools. The district and its schools have received state and national recognition for academics, literacy, Advanced Placement opportunities, positive school culture and educational programs that support students from preschool through graduation.
While the Ohio School Report Card provides an important measure of academic performance, the district remains focused on providing students with a well-rounded educational experience that includes rigorous academics, extracurricular opportunities, career exploration and individualized support.
Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School has been named a 2026 National ESEA Distinguished School, one of only 63 schools nationwide to receive the honor.
The Cuyahoga Heights School District and all three of its schools received the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Bronze Award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
Ohio Gold Medal Preschool Step-Up-To-Quality Rating by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (2025)

“Top Middle School in Ohio” – Top 2% ranking by U.S. News and World Report (2021)
“Top Elementary School in Ohio” – Top 20% ranking by U.S. News and World Report (2021)
“Best High Schools in America” – Ranked #29 in the State among the high schools that were ranked and No. 773 among the approximately 18,000 public high schools across the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report (2025)
“Momentum Award” – Awarded to CHHS by the Ohio Department of Education for earning all “A’s” on all applicable value-added measures on the Ohio Report Card in 2019.
Cuyahoga Heights Schools has received the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education for the 21st time.
“AP Scholars” – 30 students earned this distinction by the College Board in recognition of their achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) exams. 14 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. Six students earned the AP Scholar with Honor Award, 10 students earned the AP Scholar Award, and four students earned AP Capstone Diplomas.
