Cuyahoga Heights High School students achieved the strongest Advanced Placement (AP) exam performance in at least the past 17 years during the 2025-26 school year. 

This spring, 89 students completed 169 AP exams across a wide range of subjects, including science, mathematics, history, government, English literature, and world languages.

Students earned an average score of 3.68 on the five-point AP scale, the highest average recorded by the district. Even more impressive, 86.4 percent of all exams received a score of 3 or higher, the benchmark widely recognized by colleges and universities for awarding college credit or advanced placement.

In Ohio, all public colleges and universities are required to award credit for equivalent courses to students who earn a score of 3 or higher on qualifying AP exams. As a result, many Cuyahoga Heights students will enter college having already earned valuable college credits, saving both time and tuition.

The district also reached another milestone, with 58.6 percent of all exams earning a score of 4 or 5, the highest levels of achievement possible on an AP exam.

“This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, the expertise of our teachers, and the strong academic culture we have built together,” said Superintendent Matt Young. “Our students continue to challenge themselves by taking rigorous coursework, and these results demonstrate they are well prepared for success beyond high school.”

These results reinforce the district’s recent recognition as an Advanced Placement School Silver Honor Roll recipient. The College Board awards Silver status to schools that both expand access to AP coursework and support students in earning college-ready scores.
