The Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education's recognized February Students of the Month at the February 17 Board meeting. These include two students in one grade level from Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School (CHES), three students from Cuyahoga Heights Middle School (CHMS), and four students from Cuyahoga Heights High School (CHHS). Board members presented each student with a certificate.
Recognized from CHES were the following: Alec Yarina – Grade 1
Alec recently said his favorite part of school is learning and he shows this every day by asking thoughtful questions and working hard on all tasks. He is a positive role model who consistently demonstrates expected behaviors. He is kind to his peers and often invites friends to join in his activities during free play. He can always be counted upon to do the right thing.
Riley Nichols – Grade 1
Riley is a perfect example of what it means to be a well-rounded student. She puts forth her best effort in everything she does, tackling challenges, big and small, in a confident and mature manner. She excels in her academics, creativity, leadership skills, and problem-solving abilities, and has an immense amount of empathy towards others. She is quick to provide multiple solutions to resolve a friend’s problem. If a student is alone and sad, she helps them feel better. Whether it is her spunky self, her fashionable outfits and hairstyles, her kind words towards others, or her sophisticated vocabulary, she makes everyone around her smile. She truly embodies the school mantra to be “Caring, Honest, Engaged, and Safe (CHES).
From Cuyahoga Heights Middle School:
Christopher Clemence – Grade 6
Christopher demonstrates diligence and commitment in all that he does, which shows in the thoughtful questions he asks and his consistent focus on the task at hand while maintaining good behavior. He is always willing to go above and beyond on assignments and to strive for his personal best. Above all, Christopher has excellent character – he regularly goes out of his way to help both teachers and peers.
Christopher Goldsworth – Grade 7
Chris has made a strong and lasting impression in art class, says his teacher. He is an active, motivated learner who consistently looks for ways to improve his work. He thoughtfully applies the skills taught in class to his own artwork, asks insightful questions, and openly accepts constructive feedback.
Garrett Heath – Grade 8
Garrett truly represents uniqueness – the word of the month by embracing who he is and allowing his personality, creativity, and strengths to shine. His willingness to be himself encourages others to do the same and makes our school a better place, said one of his teachers.
From Cuyahoga Heights High School:
Enzo Kmetz – Grade 9
Enzo has been a model student throughout the year. He is engaged in each day’s
lesson, practices each night, and then performs at a high level on assessments. Enzo
always contribute to class in a positive way.
Emma Gasper – Grade 10
Emma is a fantastic student who brings a positive attitude to class every day. She is a good friend to her fellow classmates, often sharing ideas and giving support to others around her.
Isaac Mocadlo – Grade 11
Isaac is a top student , according to his Algebra 2 teacher. He is always prepared for class and asks thoughtful questions. He is inquisitive and works hard to understand math concepts. He consistently performs at a high level on assessments.
Ryleigh Ressler – Grade 12
Ryleigh demonstrates maturity and character in everything she does. She consistently stands out for her dedication, maturity, and respectful attitude. Ryleigh is well respected by both her peers and the adults around her. She brings a positive presence wherever she goes and often finds humor in situations, a great quality to possess. She has an impressive ability to balance her academic responsibilities with a demanding schedule of extracurricular activities. She is a varsity cheerleader, a member of the National Honor Society, and a four-year member of the Marching Band. In addition, she is enrolled in the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center Dental Assistant program and aspires to become a dentist – a challenging and demanding career path. She possesses the determination and work ethic needed to succeed in this field.
