Alex Nemeth

Cuyahoga Heights High School (CHHS) senior Alex Nemeth isn't certain when his interest in heavy machinery began, but after hearing glowing reviews about the Power Equipment Technology program, at the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC), he recognized it as the ideal choice for him. "If you're serious about a career in this field, you'd be crazy not to join PET—there's truly no better way to prepare for success in the field,” he said.

“Alex is excelling in class. I can already see a bright future for him in the industry.” said his instructor Matthew Harding. Alex’s commitment to the program is what led to his being selected for the CVCC Student Connection for October 2024.

“Mr. Harding is an amazing instructor,” Alex added about the education he’s receiving. “He can answer any question, but before he gives you the answer, he walks you through the reasoning behind it and really connects with you.” One of Alex’s favorite aspects of the program has been operating diesel motors. "They're incredibly loud and shake the entire school. It’s amazing to see something as large as a small car in action – it’s really impressive," he noted.

Outside of academics, Alex plays football for CHHS and considers himself a “tinkerer” because he enjoys fixing things. "You can sum me up in two words— – football and motors," he adds. After graduation, Alex intends to directly enter the workforce and advance in the heavy machinery industry. His advice to anyone considering CVCC? “You’ll learn a ton, fast. Leaving CVCC, you're truly set up for success.”
