Congratulations to Cuyahoga Heights High School seniors Owen Schuckert and Zachary Bernstein who have been profiled in the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s (CVCC) Student Connection for September and October respectively.
Schuckert is enrolled in the Sports Medicine Exercise Science program at CVCC. His interest in science and sports prompted his enrollment in this program. He enjoys learning about the human body and combining it with his love of athletics. He likes the hands-on aspects of the program, the positive learning environment, and working with others who share his interests. He is thankful to be in a career-focused program that meets the specific needs of students.
Outside of academics, Schuckert plays football and runs track at Cuyahoga Heights High School. He is also a member of the Student Council. He works part-time at a local pizza shop and in his father’s contracting business. He enjoys lifting weights, playing sports, and spending time with family and friends. He plans to play football in college as well as major in biology or chemistry. His future plans are to attend medical school and become a surgeon.
Bernstein is enrolled in CVCC’s Building and Property Maintenance (BPM) program. He enjoys the hands-on aspects of the program, including how to use construction tools and building structures. He has learned how to put on a roof, prepare vinyl siding, and hang drywall. Bernstein enjoys being busy throughout the day and appreciates the skills he is learning.
At Cuyahoga Heights High, Bernstein runs cross country. Through the valuable skills he’s learned, he obtained a part-time job with the Village of Cuyahoga Heights Service Department. With his family’s help, he has also started his own landscaping business. He is also working with connections through CVCC to further aid in growing a business. After graduation, he hopes to stay in the landscaping field as well as work for the Village.
